Cassie’s Canine Cuts Expands to Larger Location in Downtown Tiffin

Cassie’s Canine Cuts has relocated its pet grooming business to a larger facility at 170 E Perry Street in Downtown Tiffin. After outgrowing her previous location, owner Cassie Halcomb has moved the business to better meet the needs of her current and expanding clientele.

Cassie, a certified pet groomer through Penn Foster, began operating her grooming business from her residence in September 2023. The business moved to a commercial location on East Market Street in early 2024 and has since expanded to a larger facility adding pet salon products, grooming tables, and kennels.

“I’m thrilled to take this next step,” said Cassie Halcomb. “Our new location provides the space and amenities we need to grow, and I’m excited to invite other groomers to join us by renting table space. It’s a great opportunity for independent groomers to build their own clientele while working in a professional, supportive environment.”

The new space offers multiple grooming stations and updated equipment. Services available include nail trimming, deshedding, and full grooming sessions. The business now offers table rentals for professional groomers interested in operating independently within the facility.

“Cassie Halcomb’s investment in a larger, more advanced space not only supports the needs of local pet owners but also creates new opportunities for independent professionals. We’re proud to see her business grow right here in Tiffin. This is a shining example of the kind of entrepreneurship that helps our community thrive,” said Mayor Lee Wilkinson.

To schedule an appointment or inquire about table rentals, contact Cassie’s Canine Cuts at (567) 230-2623 or Caninecuts111@gmail.com.

Heritage Ohio brings its Preservation Assessment Workshop series to Tiffin in November

Columbus, OH—October 29, 2024  Heritage Ohio announced that the Tiffin Seneca Economic Partnership/Downtown Tiffin will host the next Preservation Assessment Workshop (PAW) beginning November 18. The workshop begins Monday evening with a free lecture at The Empire 138, 138 South Washington Street, beginning at 5:30 pm. No RVSP is required, and the lecture is open to the public, but seating will be limited.

Mr. David Mertz, former director of Belmont College’s renowned Building Preservation/Restoration program, will speak on building pathology and common issues that plague old and historic buildings. From the basics of being a good steward and planning your maintenance routine, to spotting water infiltration and masonry issues, Mertz will instruct building owners on carefully evaluating little problems now before they have the chance to become big problems in the future.

Mertz will spend Tuesday, November 19 in Downtown Tiffin, conducting one-on-one building assessments with building owners pre-selected by the workshop sponsor, Downtown Tiffin. He will evaluate current conditions of the owner’s building and provide advice to address maintenance issues, active deterioration, or future trouble spots. Heritage Ohio staff will follow up on assessment recommendations to ensure building owners have clear next steps to address priority actions.

Heritage Ohio thanks Downtown Tiffin and the City of Tiffin, for bringing the Preservation Assessment Workshop to their community. Herriage Ohio also thanks the Reineke-Reinbolt family, and the Tiffin Historic Trust for their sponsorship support. Spirit of Main Street Award

On Tuesday evening, October 15th, Heritage Ohio held their Annual Awards ceremony at the Midland Theatre in Newark, Ohio, as the opening of their annual conference. Over 100 nominations were received for 11 awards. The awards honor Ohio’s best projects, places, and people who create lasting impacts through historic preservation and community revitalization.

This year’s recipient of the Spirit of Main Street Award is the Reineke and Reinbolt families of Tiffin.

The Spirit of Main Street Award is presented to an individual that has shown outstanding leadership in revitalizing and preserving Ohio communities.

The downtown revitalization movement in Tiffin began in 2009, with Bill Reineke playing a key role in forming the Tiffin Tomorrow group, which developed a 124-item improvement plan. Bill and his brother Dan were pioneers, purchasing and renovating a downtown building to create high-end lofts, demonstrating the appeal of downtown living and spurring further investment. The Reineke-Reinbolt families have since invested in over 15 properties, each with unique features, preserving historical character while offering modern amenities.

The next generation also got involved, with Weston Reinbolt and his wife Suzie transforming a historic 12-unit building into popular rental lofts, while Dan Reineke II renovated several properties, including a former NAPA Auto Parts store, which now offers community meeting space. Dan and his wife Nikki renovated a four-story building that became the Tiffin Seneca Economic Partnership (TSEP) headquarters, supporting downtown’s economic growth.

The family actively contributes to the downtown community by sponsoring Third Thursday events, organizing the St. Paddy’s Day 5K, and encouraging employee participation in community efforts.

Heritage Ohio prompts economic growth through the preservation and revitalization of downtowns and neighborhoods across Ohio. Heritage Ohio is the designated statewide Ohio preservation partner with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Through saving the places that matter we can all build a community and live better. Learn more about how to get involved by visiting www.heritageohio.org.
